Rezolv Energy and SCION have announced the launch of the SCION Accelerator, a 10-week programme to support early-stage teams working at the intersection of ecology, science and scalable technology in Bulgaria and Romania.

The initiative is among the first to be launched under Rezolv Energy Shift, a new platform through which Rezolv Energy will invest in people and innovation to accelerate a just and inclusive energy transition in South Eastern Europe.

Open to all – including startups, NGOs and academic spinouts – the SCION Accelerator will focus on ventures addressing urgent challenges and opportunities in areas such as CleanTech and NatureTech, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience and biodiversity protection.

By catalysing high-impact ideas and helping bring them to market, the SCION Accelerator aims to contribute to a more vibrant and resilient clean energy economy in Bulgaria and Romania.

Applications for the SCION Accelerator are now open and will be accepted until 7 September 2025.

Participants will benefit from:

  • Expert mentorship and hands-on guidance.
  • Deep-dive workshops on product development, capital raising and team building.
  • A growing cross-regional network across Central and Eastern Europe.
  • Ongoing support from both SCION and Rezolv Energy Shift.

Jennifer Boca, Chief Sustainability Officer at Rezolv Energy, said: “While there is huge talent and entrepreneurial drive in Bulgaria and Romania, there are some systemic barriers to scaling nature and climate technology – including limited capital and fragmented ecosystems. The Accelerator is designed to meet this need, and it will make a huge impact – both environmentally and economically.”

Sasha Bezuhanova, Executive Director of SCION, said: “South Eastern Europe can lead the green innovation revolution – much like Silicon Valley did for tech. Our goal is simple: help teams move from science to solution, and from prototype to real-world impact. If you’re a visionary entrepreneur or researcher with a nature-positive idea, we want to hear from you.”

Rezolv Energy is a clean power producer with a 2.3GW portfolio of wind and solar projects in Southeastern Europe. Two of these projects, the 461MW VIFOR wind farm in Romania and the 225MW St. George solar park in Bulgaria, are already in construction. Two more projects in Romania – the 600MW Dunarea East & West Wind Farms and the 1,044MW Dama Solar project – will move into the construction phase shortly.
